MINI - MED

Here is the latest design and build project from AltumHomes, A small slice of the Mediterranean. tasked with building a annex kitchenette that broke away from the norms of flat pack kitchen units and basic laminate worktops. We was challenged with a Mediterranean theme kitchen that includes all the essentials to match the look. rustic doors, thick slabs of worktop, exposed brick and powerful tile work. all of this built to a budget and in a 1930’s British home.

Build summary:

• worktops are timber frame lined with cement board and a K-rend coloured silicone render finished with a matt epoxy water proofer

• doors are custom built from 4x1 pine and marine ply shaker panel to suit opening sizes. finish is burnt to bring out natural grains and then mixed blend of stains and dies to create rustic look. finished with beeswaxs coat.

• exposed inner brick wall and painted white so not to distracting from feature kitchen half rendered to allow for break between tiles and bricks

• 2 live edge timber shelves using thick rope to hide fixing points

• copper accents throughout, water mains incoming in exposed 22mm copper and vintage brass fitting shut off to left of sink. added 22mm coper utensils hanging rail under shelf

• wicker basket cutlery draws fixed to pull out base

• med custom pattern floor tiles and one row of tall bottle green tiles to break wall from worktop
